2011 - The "50th Anniversary" of the CFC!
On March 18, 1961 John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order 10927that would ceate the Combined Federal Campaign. In the 50 years that followed, thanks to the generosity of Federal Employees, the CFC has raised almost $7 billion for charitable organizations. During this time, the CFC has grown to be the most inclusive workplace giving campaign in the world. Today, it is estimated that more than 20,000 charities worldwide participate.
CFC has evolved into a program that offers the most efficient way to raise maximum dollars at minimal cost for charities. Because of the CFC, we now have a powerful effective vehicle that givesn us an opportunity to make meaningful changes in the lives of those in need, the communiteis we live in, and the world at large.
After 50 years, it's time to celebrate this success and thank you for yor continued support. We hope you will take the opportunity to continue as a supporter into this historic year. All year long we will be recognizing the significant efforts made by federal employees through the CFC. Come be a part of history and continue to help us make a difference to those that need it most.
We are excited about the plans for the 2011 CFC and we are beginning to lay the groundwork for what, we know, will be another successful campaign for Western Massachusetts CFC.

A Message from Our Local Chair for the 2011 CFC

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is often difficult to imagine how one individual can make an impact and improve the quality of life for ourselves, our families and others.
Our CFC staff and campaign volunteers often hear from federal employees, “I am just one person, what I can do is so small, it can’t possibly make a difference.” I know that without you, without each individual pledge, we could not make the impact we have made in our communities and beyond through the Western Massachusetts Combined Federal Campaign.
In 2010, federal employees in Western Massachusetts raised $336,393. Federal employees and military personnel in Western MA should be proud of their success and their extraordinary support of the CFC and its participating charities. The dollars raised represent a 2% increase in giving from the previous campaign. 2010 also represented the first year of a merger between the Pioneer Valley CFC and the Berkshire County CFC, which created the Western MA CFC. Federal employees in both regions answered the call and donated to benefit many local, national and international charities, who will be the recipients of this outpouring of generosity throughout 2011.
This year’s charity listing provides you with a record number of participating local, national and international charitable organizations representing a wide variety of services. Regardless of your interest, there is an organization in our charity listing that will resonate with you. From animals to the arts, from civil rights to medical research, from health issues to community improvement, from employment support to disaster relief, from environmental concerns to child and family services, there is a charity for you, and it your choice how your dollars are to be spent.
I believe that all of us in Western Massachusetts can relate to how suddenly and dramatically life can change. The tornado that ripped through our community on June 1 of this year demonstrated how dependent we are on the invaluable services provided by our local charitable organizations. These charities and others work tirelessly to provide the resources, programs and services necessary to help. However, this work cannot go on without the continued support of those who care – people like you!
As we celebrate our “50 years of Giving” through the CFC in 2011, please join with us again to support the work of our CFC-participating charitable organizations.
With sincere appreciation,
Crystal Komara
